In an unusual and dramatic incident in Madhya Pradesh, a suspected interstate thief attempted a daring escape by hiding underwater in a pond for nearly five hours using a hollow lotus stem to breathe.
The accused, believed to be involved in multiple train theft cases, was spotted by personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) near Sihora railway station. He had allegedly tried to steal from a passenger before being noticed by officials.
As RPF personnel moved in to apprehend him, the suspect fled the scene and jumped into a nearby pond, disappearing underwater. In a surprising attempt to evade arrest, he reportedly used a hollow lotus stem as a breathing aid while remaining submerged.
Authorities quickly launched a search operation, deploying police teams and divers around the pond. After several hours of effort, the accused was finally located and pulled out of the water.
Despite his unusual escape attempt, the suspect was arrested after a brief struggle. Officials later confirmed that he is wanted in multiple theft cases across different states, making his arrest a significant development.
The incident has since attracted widespread attention due to the creativity and desperation displayed in the escape attempt, which many have compared to scenes from a movie. However, law enforcement officials emphasized that such tactics ultimately cannot outsmart coordinated police action.
