14-Year-Old Boy Dies After Building Slab Collapses During Tuition Class in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: A tragic accident in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy after a slab of a residential building collapsed during a private tuition class on Thursday evening.
The incident took place around 5:20 pm at Vidya Bhavan Society, located in Koparkhairane. According to officials, a home tuition class was being conducted on the ground floor of the building when the slab of the first floor suddenly gave way and collapsed.

Students Trapped Under Debris

The sudden collapse caused panic as several students attending the class were trapped under the rubble. After receiving an emergency call, fire brigade teams from nearby areas rushed to the scene and began rescue operations.
Fire and rescue teams from Vashi, Koparkhairane, and Airoli worked quickly to clear debris and rescue those trapped inside the building.

Rescue Operation

Emergency responders managed to pull out 12 students and one teacher from beneath the rubble. Most of the rescued students sustained minor injuries, but four to five children were taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Student Succumbs to Injuries
Tragically, Manish Mase (14) succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Officials from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and doctors at Vashi Municipal Hospital confirmed the death.

Investigation Begins

Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the slab collapse and whether structural negligence or building safety violations played a role in the accident.
Local officials stated that further inspection of the building will be carried out, and action will be taken if any safety lapses are found.
The tragic incident has shocked residents of Koparkhairane, raising serious concerns about building safety and structural maintenance in residential societies where tuition classes and other activities are conducted.
