Bengaluru, March 5: A tragic incident in Bengaluru has once again drawn attention to domestic conflicts and mental health concerns after a 35-year-old woman, a former software engineer, died by suicide following an argument with her mother-in-law over cooking at home.
According to police officials, the deceased woman, identified as Sushma, had previously worked in the IT sector before leaving her job after marriage. She had been married to Puneeth Kumar for around five years and the couple has a young child.
Dispute at Home
Police sources said the incident occurred at the couple’s residence in north Bengaluru. Reports indicate that a dispute broke out between Sushma and her mother-in-law, Kalpana, over household matters, particularly related to cooking in the kitchen.
The argument reportedly escalated, and later the woman was found dead inside the house. Family members rushed her for help, but she was declared dead.
Family Alleges Harassment
Following the incident, the woman’s parents filed a complaint accusing her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and mental cruelty. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested the husband for questioning, while further investigation is underway.
Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the death, including possible harassment and family disputes that may have contributed to the tragedy.
Investigation Underway
Police officials stated that the case has been registered under sections related to unnatural death and dowry harassment, and statements from family members and neighbors are being recorded.
Officials also confirmed that forensic and post-mortem reports will help determine more details about the case.
