Missile and Drone Attack Disrupts Dubai; Airports Temporarily Closed

Dubai experienced significant disruption overnight after a large-scale missile and drone attack targeted multiple locations across the United Arab Emirates. Authorities confirmed that several projectiles were intercepted, while falling debris caused limited damage in parts of the city.
According to officials, the attack impacted areas near Dubai International Airport, where minor structural damage was reported at one of the concourses. Four airport workers sustained injuries and were provided immediate medical assistance. Flight operations were temporarily suspended as a precautionary safety measure.
Operations were also paused at Al Maktoum International Airport, causing widespread flight cancellations and delays. Major UAE carriers, including Emirates, flydubai, and Etihad Airways, announced temporary service disruptions while authorities assessed the situation.
Drone debris reportedly sparked a minor fire on the outer façade of the iconic Burj Al Arab. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the fire was brought under control without major injuries.
Explosions were also reported near Palm Jumeirah, where debris from intercepted aerial threats caused small fires near hotel properties. Additionally, a fire broke out at Jebel Ali Port, one of the region’s busiest maritime hubs. Civil Defence teams contained the blaze shortly after it was reported.
The UAE Ministry of Defence stated that air defence systems successfully intercepted the majority of incoming missiles and drones. Authorities emphasized that emergency protocols were activated immediately and that the situation was brought under control within hours.
In Abu Dhabi, officials confirmed casualties at Zayed International Airport, including one fatality and several injuries.
Airspace restrictions were briefly implemented across parts of the UAE, resulting in ripple effects on international travel routes throughout the Middle East. Aviation authorities are working to gradually restore normal operations.
Government officials urged residents to remain calm, follow official advisories, and avoid circulating unverified information on social media. Security has been heightened nationwide as investigations continue.
