Continuous heavy rainfall across Assam has triggered a severe flood situation, affecting lakhs of people and causing widespread damage to homes, roads, bridges, and agricultural land. Several major rivers, including the Brahmaputra and its tributaries, are flowing above the danger level, leading to inundation in many districts.

According to official sources, numerous villages remain submerged, forcing thousands of families to move to relief camps. The State Government, along with the Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local administration, is carrying out rescue and relief operations in the worst-affected areas.

Floodwaters have disrupted transportation, damaged public infrastructure, and affected educational institutions. Relief camps have been established to provide food, clean drinking water, medical assistance, and temporary shelter to displaced residents.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rainfall in the coming days, prompting authorities to issue advisories for people living in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded roads and rivers, and follow instructions issued by local authorities.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reviewed the flood situation and assured that relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts will continue until normalcy is restored. Officials are closely monitoring river water levels and coordinating emergency response teams across the state.

As Assam battles another challenging monsoon season, communities, volunteers, and emergency personnel continue to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected. Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm, stay informed through official updates, and extend support to people in need.
