Commuters Nightmare
Illegal Call Taxi Parking Causes Traffic Congestion on GST Road
Commuters are facing traffic congestion during the early morning hours due to call taxis allegedly parking illegally and occupying one lane of GST Road near the Southern Railway Office. MTC buses and college buses are being forced to move into the centre lane, potentially putting other road users at risk.
A bus stop is located near this stretch, but the illegally parked vehicles are creating difficulties for MTC buses trying to stop and pick up passengers. Commuters are also taking risks while crossing the road around these parked vehicles.
Despite the availability of parking spaces in the surrounding area, call taxi drivers are reportedly queuing along GST Road for hundreds of metres, creating traffic congestion during the morning peak hours.
The Tambaram Traffic Police are urged to take immediate action against illegal parking and impose fines where violations are confirmed. Timely enforcement could help ease congestion, improve bus access to the bus stop and reduce risks to commuters before a serious accident occurs.
