Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Meets Sanju Samson, Congratulates Him On Joining ‘Team Delhi’
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Indian cricketer and opening batter Sanju Samson at her office in Delhi and congratulated him on joining “Team Delhi.”
Gupta shared pictures from the meeting on social media and highlighted Samson’s connection with the national capital. According to her post, Samson spent his early years in Delhi and began his cricketing journey in the city.
The meeting also marked Samson’s new association with Jan Kaushal Kendra in Moti Nagar, where he has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador by the Madan Lal Khurana Foundation.
Gupta said the cricketer would help inspire Delhi’s youth towards skills, opportunities and self-reliance.
MLA Harish Khurana, along with senior representatives of the Trinity Foundation and IACT Education, were also present during the meeting.
Sanju Samson Reaches 9,000 T20 Runs
The meeting came shortly after Samson achieved a major milestone in his T20 career. During India’s third and final T20I against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 17, Samson completed 9,000 runs in T20 cricket.
He reached the landmark while scoring 50 runs off 35 deliveries, including two fours and four sixes. He was dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai in the 14th over.
Samson now has 9,027 runs in 351 T20 matches, including eight centuries and 57 half-centuries. For India, he has scored 1,549 runs in 69 T20Is, including three centuries and seven half-centuries.
India Complete 3-0 Series Sweep
Samson’s milestone came during India’s dominant performance against Afghanistan. India posted 221/7, with Abhishek Sharma scoring a record-breaking 108 off 34 balls.
Afghanistan were subsequently bowled out for 94, giving India a 127-run victory and completing a 3-0 series sweep.
The Delhi CM’s meeting with Samson therefore combined his recent cricketing milestone with his new role in a youth-focused skill development initiative in the national capital.
