Kharpi Urdu School Relocation Order Stayed Pending Further Hearing

Amravati/Achalpur, September 17: The Maharashtra Government's School Education and Sports Department has stayed the order to shift the Urdu Secondary School at Kharpi in Achalpur taluka to Begampura (Kasadpura), pending further proceedings.

According to the information provided by the agitators, students and villagers had been protesting against the proposed relocation of the school for several days. The students and local residents expressed concern that shifting the school to Achalpur could increase the distance for children from Kharpi and surrounding areas.

Villagers also raised questions over the earlier order related to the proposed relocation. According to the protesters, the government had issued an order on December 23, 2025, but information about it was not communicated to the local community in time. The institution had reportedly initiated the relocation process citing directions of the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court.

Bachchu Kadu Raises the Issue With Education Department

Former MLA Omprakash alias Bachchu Kadu visited the protest site and interacted with students and villagers. According to the information provided, Kadu subsequently spoke with School Education Minister Dada Bhuse and the Education Secretary and requested that the relocation order be kept on hold until a fresh hearing was conducted at the ministerial level.

Kadu said that the school should continue in Kharpi and expressed his support for efforts to improve the institution's educational facilities.

Government Issues Stay

According to the government order dated September 17, 2026, issued by Under Secretary Sharad Makne, a hearing is to be conducted at the ministerial level following the request made by Bachchu Kadu. The order states that the approval for shifting the school will remain stayed until a final decision is taken after the hearing.

The stay therefore does not constitute a final cancellation of the relocation proposal. The matter is expected to be considered further during the proposed hearing.

According to the information provided by the organisers, Kadu, along with Education Officer Priya Deshmukh, subsequently reached the protest site and handed over a copy of the government communication to the students and protesters. Following the communication, the six-day agitation was called off.

Note: The relocation matter remains subject to the outcome of the minister-level hearing and the final decision of the School Education Department.
