HDFC Parivartan on Wheels Expands Free Healthcare Outreach Across Coimbatore
Ramky Foundation’s initiative brings free medical consultation, laboratory, pharmacy and preventive healthcare services closer to communities
Coimbatore: HDFC Parivartan on Wheels, implemented by Ramky Foundation under HDFC Bank Parivartan, is steadily strengthening community-level healthcare services across Coimbatore district by providing free and accessible medical care through its Mobile Care Unit (MCU).
The initiative is designed to take essential healthcare services directly to communities, making primary medical care more accessible to people who may otherwise face difficulties in reaching healthcare facilities.
The MCU is supported by a dedicated healthcare team comprising a Medical Officer, Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Laboratory Technician and operational personnel. Together, the team provides an integrated range of healthcare services at the community level.
Through the MCU, beneficiaries receive free doctor consultations, basic health assessments, nursing care, laboratory services, pharmacy services, prescribed medicines, health counselling and referral guidance based on their healthcare needs.
The availability of medical consultation, basic diagnostic support and medicines through a single mobile platform enables the project to provide convenient and timely primary healthcare services within communities.
In addition to regular MCU services, HDFC Parivartan on Wheels conducts specialized medical camps with the support of specialist healthcare professionals. These interventions complement routine primary healthcare services and help communities access screening, specialist consultation and appropriate medical guidance.
A strong emphasis is also placed on preventive healthcare and early identification of health concerns. Regular health screenings and community-level interventions encourage people to understand their health status and seek appropriate medical attention when required.
Health education is another important component of the initiative. The project conducts awareness programmes on various public health and social health issues, promoting disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, early detection and responsible health-seeking behaviour.
The project also works to improve awareness among different sections of society, including women, young people and vulnerable communities, by addressing relevant healthcare and social concerns through focused awareness interventions.
Adv. Haskar Ali Kokkarattil, Project Manager, HDFC Parivartan on Wheels, said the project seeks to make healthcare more accessible while building greater health awareness at the grassroots level.
> "Our approach is not limited to treating illness. Through the MCU, we bring doctors, nursing care, laboratory support, pharmacy services and essential medicines directly to communities. Equally important is our focus on prevention, early identification and health education. Our aim is to make quality primary healthcare accessible while empowering people to make informed decisions about their health.”
Through its regular community outreach, the initiative is helping bridge the gap between healthcare services and people by taking a multidisciplinary healthcare team closer to where people live.
The combination of **medical care, laboratory support, pharmacy services, specialized health interventions and preventive awareness** allows HDFC Parivartan on Wheels to follow a comprehensive approach to community healthcare.
The initiative also encourages community participation and collaboration with healthcare professionals, institutions, government stakeholders and other local partners to enhance the effectiveness and reach of its interventions.
Implemented by Ramky Foundation under HDFC Bank Parivartan, HDFC Parivartan on Wheels continues to move forward with a commitment to accessible, preventive and people-centred healthcare across Coimbatore district.
By bringing essential healthcare services directly to communities through its MCU, the project demonstrates a simple but powerful principle — quality healthcare should reach people wherever they are.
