Jajpur district is badly hit in the current Odisha floods, but officials haven't declared the entire district fully submerged.

Here’s what’s happening as of July 29, 2026 updates:

*Jajpur situation*
- *11,156 people affected* across *75 villages* in Jajpur
- *1,640 people evacuated* to safer places
- *20 relief camps* are running, helping *3,807 people*
- *4,072 hectares of crops* damaged by floodwater
- Major cause: Baitarani river and its tributary Kani river. There was a breach on the Kani river embankment that severely hit Jajpur. Baitarani, Budha and Salandi rivers have inundated many areas in Jajpur.

*Overall Odisha flood picture*
- *6 districts severely affected*: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur and Dhenkanal
- *2.03 lakh+ people affected* across 748 villages, 44 blocks
- *∼28,000 to 30,000 people evacuated* to relief camps
- *266 villages remain marooned*
- *4 flood-related deaths* reported, 3 of them in Kendujhar
- *761 houses damaged* and *7,901 hectares of farmland* inundated
- NDRF, ODRAF, Fire Services teams deployed. 3 senior IAS officers deputed to Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur to supervise relief
- Schools and anganwadi centres closed in 10 districts

*What’s being done in Jajpur*
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said relief and rescue operations are in full swing. District administration has stocked rice, flattened rice, molasses, kerosene in GP offices and block HQs. Boats and rescue teams are deployed.

IMD has also warned of more heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, so water levels are still being monitored closely. Baitarani and other rivers were flowing above danger mark.
