500 Tonnes of Dry Food from CM's Special Relief Fund Reaches Flood-Hit Jajpur

JAJPUR / BHUBANESWAR, 22 August 2026: Around 500 tonnes of dry food materials from the Chief Minister's Special Relief Fund have reached Jajpur district as rising water levels in the Baitarani river continue to affect several areas.

The relief materials are intended for flood-affected people in Dasarathpur, Bari, Binjharpur and Jajpur blocks. According to officials, the relief supplies are expected to provide assistance to families affected by the flooding across the district.

The state government has also deployed disaster-response teams and opened relief camps in affected areas. Officials said that 17 ODRAF teams, 7 NDRF teams and 129 Fire Service teams have been deployed as part of the flood-response measures. More than 700 shelter camps have also reportedly been opened, with arrangements for cooked food being made for affected residents.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited flood-affected areas of Jajpur by road and reviewed the relief and rescue arrangements. During the visit, he interacted with affected residents and officials and reviewed the situation in the flood-hit areas.

The Chief Minister directed officials to maintain a focus on preventing loss of life and to undertake damage assessment and restoration work related to roads, drinking water and health services in the affected areas.

Officials said relief and rehabilitation measures are being monitored as the administration continues efforts to assist people affected by the flooding.

The arrival of the dry food supplies is expected to provide immediate support to families in the affected areas while restoration and relief operations continue across Jajpur district.
