Major Leak in Mumbai-III Pipeline Near Thane Raises Water Supply Concerns

Major Leak Detected in Mumbai-III Water Pipeline Near Teen Hath Naka in Thane

Thane: A major leak has been detected in the 3,000-mm-diameter Mumbai-III water pipeline near Teen Hath Naka along the Eastern Express Highway in Thane, raising concerns over possible disruption to water supply in parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Civic authorities have begun emergency repair work to prevent further water loss and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

According to officials, the damaged pipeline is located around 3 to 4 metres underground and is enclosed within a protective casing, making the repair operation technically challenging.

Specialised teams have been deployed at the site to access the pipeline and carry out the restoration work safely.

Possible Impact on Water Supply

The Mumbai-III pipeline is an important component of the region's water supply network. Any prolonged disruption to the pipeline could affect water distribution in some areas if the repair work takes longer than expected.

However, authorities have not yet announced the extent of any impact on the daily water supply or confirmed whether scheduled water cuts will be necessary.

Officials are monitoring the situation and have said that efforts are being made to complete the repair work at the earliest.

Residents have been advised to follow official announcements from the concerned civic authorities for updates regarding any changes to water supply schedules.

Note: The extent of the water-supply impact and any proposed water cuts should be updated once confirmed through official civic announcements.
