NSE IPO Opens For Subscription Today

NSE IPO Opens for Subscription in One of India's Largest Public Offerings

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has opened its much-awaited initial public offering (IPO) for public subscription on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The issue is valued at around ₹22,569 crore, making it one of India's largest public offerings.

The NSE IPO will remain open until September 21. The price band has been fixed at ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per equity share, while the minimum lot size for retail investors is eight shares. At the upper price band, a retail investor would require ₹14,280 for one minimum lot.

The issue is entirely an Offer for Sale (OFS), meaning existing shareholders are selling their shares rather than NSE issuing new shares. As a result, the proceeds from the offer will go to the selling shareholders and not directly to NSE. The public issue comprises up to 12.64 crore existing shares.

Before the public issue opened, NSE raised about ₹6,746 crore through its anchor book. Major institutional investors included the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Norway's Government Pension Fund, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and other domestic and global investors.

On the opening day, early exchange data showed the issue receiving bids for around 9% of the shares offered. Subscription levels were changing during the trading session, with retail and non-institutional investors also participating.

The NSE IPO has attracted significant attention because of the exchange's role in India's financial markets. The proposed listing would allow NSE shares to trade publicly and give investors an opportunity to hold shares in the exchange through the listed market.

The tentative IPO allotment date is September 22, while the shares are expected to be listed on September 24, subject to the applicable process and approvals.

The NSE IPO is therefore being closely watched by investors and market participants as one of India's major public-market offerings.
