Mumbai: Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-awaited action drama Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead, has sparked fresh discussion ahead of its theatrical release. Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother, has openly challenged film critics to take on the movie with their reviews once it reaches theatres.

Pranay made the remarks while speaking about his recently released production Romanchakam, which received mixed reviews following its theatrical release on September 3. Addressing criticism of the film, he highlighted the challenges involved in bringing a screenplay to life and suggested that critics may not always understand the difficulties faced during production.

“If you get into production, you understand how hard the director works to execute what’s written and the kind of problems that arise during production,” Pranay said, as quoted in reports.

He went on to challenge critics to try to “kill the spirit” of the upcoming film through their reviews.

“They plucked feathers from a chicken egg. If they are really capable of doing something, let’s see when Spirit releases. We will see when it releases,” Pranay said.

What We Know About Spirit : Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film is expected to be an intense action drama, with Prabhas reportedly portraying a powerful police officer.

The project has also attracted considerable attention because of its casting developments. Deepika Padukone was initially expected to star opposite Prabhas, but she later exited the project. Triptii Dimri was subsequently brought on board. Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj are also part of the cast.The film has generated significant buzz even before production and release, with reports and speculation surrounding its storyline, casting and other aspects of the project.

Release Date Clarified : There had been recent reports suggesting that Spirit could be postponed to avoid a potential box-office clash with Salman Khan’s upcoming film with filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally. However, the makers have dismissed those reports and maintained that there has been no change to the announced release date.

A T-Series spokesperson told Zoom that the film remains on schedule and is set to arrive worldwide on March 5, 2027.

“We are very much on track with the release of Spirit. The film is slated to release on March 5, 2027, and there is absolutely no change to the announced release date,” the spokesperson said.

With Prabhas teaming up with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the first time, Spirit is already one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2027. Pranay Reddy Vanga’s comments have added another layer of anticipation, putting the spotlight on how critics and audiences will respond when the film finally reaches theatres.
