Martyr Murali Nayak’s Statue Unveiled at Shilparamam in Puttaparthi

Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai District, August 11: Andhra Pradesh State Collector A. Shyam Prasad and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar unveiled the statue of martyr Murali Nayak at Shilparamam in Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai district, on Monday, August 10, 2026.

In recognition of the sacrifice made by martyr Murali Nayak of Kalli Thanda in Gorantla mandal, the statue was unveiled at Shilparamam. District Collector A. Shyam Prasad and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar jointly unveiled the statue and paid floral tributes to the martyr.

Sepoy Murali Nayak of the 851 Light Regiment laid down his life on May 9, 2025, while facing firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Collector said that the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of the martyr at a young age would remain an inspiration for generations, particularly for the youth. He said the government stands by the martyr's family and would provide all possible support.

The SP said that the sacrifices of soldiers guarding the country's borders are priceless and that their constant vigilance enables people to live safely. He said the people of Sri Sathya Sai district would always remember the valour and sacrifice of Murali Nayak.

Puttaparthi RDO Suvarna, district officials, military representatives, local public representatives, Murali Nayak's parents and family members, Shilparamam staff and a large number of people attended the programme and paid tribute to the martyr.

About Martyr Murali Nayak

According to the information provided, Murali Nayak was born into a farming family in Kalli Thanda, under Gaddanthanda Panchayat, Gorantla mandal, Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh. He was the son of Ram Nayak and Jyotibai.

Murali Nayak joined the Indian Army as an Agniveer in November 2022 and underwent training in Nashik. He was subsequently deployed in Assam and later moved to the Jammu and Kashmir region as part of operational duties.

He was reportedly seriously injured during firing along the Line of Control in May 2025 and succumbed to his injuries while being evacuated for further treatment.
