Tensions At The Border Due To Chinese Military Intrusions: India

India Reiterates Concerns Over LAC Tensions, Continues Facilitating Medical Supplies to Iran

New Delhi, October 24, 2026: India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday reiterated the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the India-China border and confirmed that it continues to facilitate the transportation of life-saving medicines to Iran.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is periodically disturbed when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns. He emphasised that maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations between India and China.

India-China Border Situation

The MEA’s remarks came in response to questions about comments by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, who said that confrontations with Chinese troops continue at several locations along the border in Arunachal Pradesh.

Jaiswal said that both countries continue to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues and avoid misunderstandings or miscalculations along the LAC. He also noted that the two sides have agreed to discuss ways to improve their understanding of the LAC in appropriate areas to strengthen border management.

ITBP Strengthens Border Preparedness

Speaking to personnel at an ITBP base in Alwar, Rajasthan, on Thursday, Kapoor outlined steps being taken to strengthen the force’s operational capabilities along the China border.

According to reports, the ITBP has established drone platoons in its border units and developed a new “Strike” training course to prepare personnel for combat situations similar to the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. The force is also strengthening infrastructure and investing in modern equipment to respond to evolving security challenges.

India Continues to Facilitate Medicines for Iran

Separately, the MEA said India continues to facilitate the transportation of life-saving medicines to Iran amid reports concerning airspace clearance for Iranian aircraft.

Jaiswal said the ongoing conflict in West Asia has created new challenges for air connectivity between India and Iran. He added that India remains in communication with Iranian authorities to facilitate the transportation of essential medicines as a humanitarian measure.

The statement came amid reports that Iranian aircraft had encountered difficulties obtaining flight permissions for transporting medical supplies. India’s stated position is that it continues to work with Iranian counterparts to facilitate these shipments.
