Tripura Government Allots Residential Land to Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Asmita Dey

The Tripura Council of Ministers has approved the allotment of residential land in Agartala to Ms. Asmita Dey, a gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games, in recognition of her achievement in the field of sports.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced that the State Government has allotted 0.0500 acre of land at Abhoynagar, Agartala, to Ms. Dey for construction of a residential house. A cheque of ₹10 lakh was also presented to her as a token of appreciation for her performance at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow.

Dr. Saha further informed that the Council of Ministers has approved the waiver of the land premium amounting to approximately ₹33.50 lakh. The announcement was made during a felicitation programme organised to honour Ms. Dey upon her return to the State.

Ms. Dey, who originally hails from Belonia in South Tripura and is presently settled in Uttar Pradesh, had earlier expressed her desire to have a home in her native State. Recalling his interaction with her, the Chief Minister said that when he asked what she wished to receive from her home State, she expressed her desire for a house of her own in Agartala.

In response, the State Government decided to facilitate the allotment of residential land and provide financial assistance in recognition of her sporting achievements. Official allotment documents, including the mutation certificate, were also handed over to her.

The Chief Minister congratulated Ms. Dey on her achievements and encouraged her to continue contributing to the development and welfare of Tripura. Expressing her gratitude to the Chief Minister and the State Government, Ms. Dey said she would endeavour to contribute to the State in the years to come.

During the felicitation programme, Ms. Dey also remembered the contribution, support and sacrifices of her late father, Shri Arjun Kumar De, in shaping her sporting career.

In recognition of her professional and sporting achievements, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has also promoted Ms. Dey from the post of Sub-Inspector to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Uttar Pradesh Police. She expressed her gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath for his continued support and encouragement towards her sporting career and professional advancement.
