Jalpaiguri Municipality Warns Against Illegal Construction, Assures Action on Land Disputes
Jalpaiguri: The Jalpaiguri Municipality has reiterated its stand against unauthorised construction in the town and said that appropriate action will be taken wherever illegal construction is found.
According to the municipality, construction-related issues have been reported in several areas, particularly in places where land disputes, incomplete land records or other documentation-related concerns exist. Officials have said that such cases will be inspected and action will be taken in accordance with the applicable rules.
The issue of land disputes has existed in parts of Jalpaiguri for several years. Some locations are situated close to rivers, while in other areas questions have been raised regarding land records and ownership documents. These issues can create complications when construction or property transactions take place.
The municipality has advised residents to properly verify land documents and other relevant approvals before purchasing flats, houses or other properties. Buyers are also advised to conduct necessary enquiries regarding ownership, construction permissions and applicable municipal regulations before making an investment.
Municipal officials have indicated that complaints relating to unauthorised construction and land-related irregularities will be examined on a case-by-case basis. Where violations are established, necessary action will be taken as per the rules.
The civic body's position is aimed at preventing residents from facing difficulties arising from disputed land, unauthorised construction or inadequate verification of property documents.
Residents have also been encouraged to approach the appropriate municipal authorities with relevant documents if they have concerns regarding construction or property-related issues in their locality.
