Organized by Thaugan Marup Jaffirbond, Hailakandi, the 70th Mother’s Remembrance Day (Ema Ningshingba Nummit) was observed on March 1, Sunday, at the Yaifa Sanglen of Thaugan Marup in Leishramkhun Mamang Leikai.
At 8:00 AM, the organization’s President, Nepram Monindra Singha, hoisted the Lup’s flag, followed by a floral tribute to the Meitei Mother (Meitei Ema) by the public at 8:30 AM. The event featured poetry recitations by LP and ME school students and honored several distinguished individuals.
The ceremony was presided over by President Nepram Monindra Singha. The guest lineup included:
Chief Guest: Naorem Bidyasagar
Honoured Guests: Asem Mani, Kolyan Goswami, Leirenlakpam Champalal, Haobam Manisana, Bimola Sharma, and Chongtham Babuton.
The Chief Guest lit the ceremonial lamp, and the Jaribond Seisakpa Lup performed the opening song. Moirengjem Chinglen delivered the welcome address.
During the event, several books published by Sing and Son Publication, Jaribond were released:
Laibak na Tamba (Short story) by Naorem Indira.
Khanghauba khara Tahauba khara (An account of starting Mother Language studies) by Subram.
Karmana Dharmani (Poetry) by Soram Binota Singha.
A community feast was held at 12:30 PM. Speakers including Naorem Angousana and Dr. Nigheiba Meisnam shared their thoughts during the session. Following speeches from the dignitaries and guests, the program concluded with a vote of thanks by Laurembam Joykanta.
