Petrol Bomb Attack on RSS Office in Ranchi: Three Arrested Under UAPA

In a shocking incident that underscores ongoing tensions in the region, three individuals have been arrested following a petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The police have invoked sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to prosecute the suspects, reflecting the serious nature of the assault.

The attack occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday when two assailants reportedly hurled petrol bombs at the RSS office located in the Nivaranpur area of the city. According to police sources, one of the bombs struck the roof, igniting a fire, while the second device landed near the entrance without detonating. Fortunately, the quick response from local fire services helped contain the flames before they could spread further.

The investigation has since been escalated, now under the auspices of the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad, highlighting the potential implications of the attack in a politically charged environment. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, comprising senior police officials, who promptly reviewed CCTV footage and deployed technical surveillance to trace the culprits.

Authorities swiftly apprehended Saif Ansari and Aman Ansari, known as Golu, near the Gajhandi railway station in Koderma while they were allegedly attempting to flee the state. Their arrest was based on critical leads gathered during the interrogation process, which also led to the identification of a third suspect, 21-year-old Sayam Sujan. The police are currently exploring the motives behind the attack, which appears to be part of a broader strategy to instill fear in ideologically opposing groups.

In a twist to the ongoing investigation, Saif Ansari managed to escape from custody at the Kotwali police station. Authorities reported that he broke through a toilet ventilation grill and glass panel around 11:30 AM, complicating the already tense situation. However, swift police action during a vehicle check subsequently intercepted him, bringing him back into custody. This incident raises significant concerns about security protocols within police facilities and the need for enhanced measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The RSS, a prominent Hindu nationalist organization, has often been at the center of political controversies and has faced numerous attacks over the years. The government and law enforcement agencies are under pressure to ensure the safety of such institutions, particularly in light of heightened tensions surrounding religious and political ideologies in the region. The unfolding situation is being closely monitored by local communities and political analysts alike, as it may have repercussions on the socio-political landscape of Jharkhand and beyond.
