Phase Two Of Budget Session In Loksabha From Today. — Discussion On No-Confidence Motion Against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla,
New Delhi, March 9, IPU Media News: The Phase Two of budget session of Parliament is going to begin from Monday. According to today’s agenda, the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition against Speaker Om Birla is the only item listed in the Lok Sabha business. Due to this, both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have issued whips. TMC is also supporting the resolution against Birla. With this, the second part of the budget session is set to be heated. Along with the no-confidence motion against the Speaker, the war on Iran, rising tensions in West Asia, factors leading to price hike, Trump’s ‘permission’ to buy oil from Russia, etc. will come up for discussion. The opposition parties want to question the Modi government’s stance. If TMC members raise the issue of ‘Sir’ in the House.. BJP can raise the issue of violation of President Draupadi Murmu’s protocol in West Bengal. If time remains in the Budget Session, the Center can introduce the Electricity Amendment Bill.
** Key issues to be discussed today:
Not only the Speaker issue, the opposition is ready to confront the Modi government on international and domestic developments. The main issues to be discussed are:
* West Asian tensions: War on Iran and growing unrest there.
Oil politics: Opposition questions on the issue of US President Trump’s ‘permission’ to buy oil from Russia.
Price hike: The opposition alliance hopes to confront the government on the hike in prices of essential commodities.
* Electricity Amendment Bill: The Center is likely to introduce this key bill if time remains.
* Strategy and Counter-Strategy:
If the TMC members raise the ‘Sir’ issue in the House, the BJP is planning to bring up the issue of President Draupadi Murmu’s violation of protocol and put the opposition in a dilemma. In short, the second part of the budget session is going to be a war of words between the ruling and opposition parties from the first day.
