New Delhi, Mar 8 : President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other leaders on Sunday congratulated Team India after the side clinched the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, defeating New Zealand in the final.
In a post on X, President Droupadi Murmu, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), extended heartiest congratulations to the Indian team, saying the victory marks a historic milestone as India became the only country to win the T20 World Cup three times and the first team to lift the trophy twice consecutively.
“This brings immense joy and pride to our cricket-loving people. It is also a marker of the rich talent pool we have among our youth. Every player, the management and the support staff deserve the highest praise for this collective triumph,” she wrote, wishing the team continued success in the future, Murmu said.
Vice president of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan also hailed the historic achievement, noting that India has become the first team to win three ICC Men’s T20 World Cup titles, calling it a proud moment for the country and its millions of cricket fans.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team, calling them “Champions” and praising their determination and teamwork throughout the tournament. “This remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skills, determination and teamwork. This victory has filled every Indian heart with pride and joy,” he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the team’s performance, describing the victory as a moment of great pride for the nation. “Your exceptional performance throughout the tournament and the vigorous display of mettle has brought glory and pride for the nation,” Shah wrote while congratulating the players.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the team, describing them as “Vishwa Vijeta” (World Champions) and celebrating the historic victory.
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad, successfully retaining the T20 World Cup title and scripting a new chapter in the country’s cricketing history.
