Security Forces Dismantle Bunkers in Ukhrul, Situation Improves

Ukhrul, Manipur | March 24, 2026: Security forces carried out coordinated operations across multiple locations under the jurisdiction of Litan Police Station in a major effort to restore peace and stability in the region.

According to official sources, the operations targeted fortified bunkers in sensitive areas, leading to their successful destruction and dismantling in Lengiangching and Mongkat Chepu villages. These bunkers, reportedly used by members of both communities, had been contributing to heightened tensions and sporadic exchanges of fire.

During the operation, security personnel also recovered a number of fired cartridges from the sites, indicating previous armed activity in the area.
Improved Situation on Ground
Officials stated that following the large-scale operation, a majority of the bunkers on both sides have been neutralized, significantly reducing the capacity for armed confrontation. As a result, incidents of firing have decreased considerably.

Security agencies have since intensified area domination measures, including continuous patrolling and strategic deployment of troops to maintain law and order. The presence of forces has helped stabilize the situation and prevent further escalation.

Ongoing Vigilance
Authorities emphasized that while the situation has improved, security forces remain on high alert. Continued monitoring and proactive measures are being implemented to ensure lasting peace in the region.

The operation marks a significant step toward restoring normalcy in parts of Ukhrul district, which has witnessed intermittent unrest in recent times.
