Bengaluru, June 14: A 22-year-old woman from Sikkim was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend following a dispute at their residence in Bengaluru’s Doddakannahalli area, police said.
The victim, identified as Ati Hangma Subba, was employed as a receptionist at a salon in the city. The accused, Purba Lepcha, a resident of Darjeeling, worked as a waiter at a local hotel.
According to police, the couple had been in a relationship and had moved to Bengaluru about a month ago. They were reportedly living together in a rented accommodation in Doddakannahalli.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an argument broke out between the couple on Sunday morning after Lepcha allegedly suspected Subba of being involved in another relationship. During the altercation, he is accused of attacking her with a kitchen knife, causing fatal injuries.
Bellandur Police have registered a murder case and taken the accused into custody. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
