Mysuru, March 8 – Residents are facing severe traffic congestion near Kannegowdana Koppal (KG Koppal) on New Kantharaj Urs Road as the railway underbridge (RuB) and road-widening work continues to be delayed. The stretch connects major areas such as Kuvempunagar, Saraswathipuram, and JP Nagar to key parts of the city, resulting in heavy vehicle movement during peak hours.

According to officials, the narrow road and ongoing construction have caused daily bottlenecks, especially between 8–10 AM and 5–7 PM, when thousands of vehicles, including buses, pass through the area. Residents have also raised concerns about the lack of traffic cameras and insufficient traffic police presence, which has led to frequent minor accidents.

Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif stated that the authorities are reviewing the situation and will take necessary steps to speed up the road widening process and improve traffic management.

Citizens have urged officials to complete the work at the earliest to reduce inconvenience to commuters and ensure smoother traffic flow in the city.
