New Delhi: Two students from Northeast India were allegedly attacked by a group of men near the Saket District Court Complex on Sunday evening, triggering concerns about safety and harassment in the area.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred when a young woman and her friend were taking a walk near the court complex. During this time, a group of men allegedly passed lewd and derogatory remarks at the two students.
Incident Escalates
Sources said that when one of the girls objected to the comments, the situation quickly escalated. The accused men allegedly became aggressive and reportedly assaulted her with belts.
Witnesses nearby reportedly tried to intervene as the confrontation turned violent. The attackers allegedly fled the scene soon after the assault.
Victim Taken to Hospital
The injured student was immediately taken to Safdarjung Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Doctors confirmed that she sustained injuries during the incident and was provided necessary care.
Police Investigation
Police officials said that a complaint regarding the incident has been received and an investigation is underway. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area around the court complex to identify the accused individuals involved in the attack.
