Bengaluru, May 10:
Commuters on Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Purple Line faced temporary inconvenience on Sunday morning as services were curtailed for two hours to facilitate essential maintenance work. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) announced that train operations between Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji Station (Hosahalli) and Cubbon Park Metro Station were suspended from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m..
According to BMRCL officials, the maintenance activity was undertaken on the central section of the corridor near Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic) and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Station (Central College) to ensure operational safety and reliability. During the disruption period, metro services continued to run normally on other stretches of the Purple Line, including Challaghatta–Vijayanagar and M.G. Road–Whitefield (Kadugodi). Services on the Green and Yellow Lines were also unaffected.
The Purple Line, which connects the city’s eastern and western corridors and serves key commercial and residential areas, is among the busiest routes in the metro network. Several early‑morning commuters were seen opting for alternative transport arrangements during the maintenance window.
BMRCL stated that normal services across the entire Purple Line resumed after 9 a.m. The corporation advised passengers to check official updates and plan their travel in advance when such maintenance blocks are scheduled.
