Cockroach Janta Party to Launch Nation-Wide Protests Demanding Education Minister’s Resignation
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a political movement that began as a satirical campaign, is gearing up for a series of nationwide protests, starting Thursday, to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The group claims that Pradhan’s management of competitive examinations has been riddled with missteps and irregularities, particularly in light of recent controversies surrounding major exams.
Abhijit Dipke, the founder of the CJP, expressed the urgency of their demands, declaring that if their call for Pradhan’s resignation is ignored, they will initiate an indefinite sit-in at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 20. The group emphasizes that they will remain until accountability is ensured, as quoted by PTI. The CJP promotes itself as a political platform that prioritizes the voices of the youth, aiming to address issues that resonate with younger generations across the country.
This movement gained traction following significant unrest stemming from the cancellation of the undergraduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which was marred by allegations of a paper leak. The cancellations and the ensuing chaos have left countless medical aspirants in dismay. Furthermore, students have raised alarms about irregularities in the Class 12 examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and issues related to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams for various government positions.
The protests are set to kick off in Pune on Thursday, with additional demonstrations planned in major cities such as Lucknow, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Hyderabad in the following days. Dipke has called upon parents to support their children in voicing their concerns against what he describes as the government’s “tyranny” and misguided policies. He believes that the youth’s right to protest should be upheld and not stifled.
The rise of the Cockroach Janta Party signifies a growing sentiment among the youth who feel increasingly disenfranchised by government decisions affecting their educational and career prospects. As they mobilize across the country, it is a pivotal moment that highlights the importance of accountability in governance and the need for proactive measures to protect the interests of students and job seekers alike.
