Haryana Teacher Faces Suspension After Attending Cockroach Janta Party Protest

A guest teacher from a government middle school in Rohtak, Haryana, has been suspended just two days after her participation in a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 6. Sulekha Dalal, who teaches at the Government Middle School in Rainkpura, was placed on suspension effective June 8, as per a directive issued by the district elementary education officer on June 10.

While the official suspension order did not specify the reasons behind the action, the District Elementary Education Officer, Bijender Hooda, indicated that Dalal had breached conduct rules for government employees. Hooda stated that leaving her post without prior approval to join the protest constituted a violation.

The CJP organized these protests in response to the cancellation of the undergraduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical college admissions, which arose due to serious allegations of a paper leak. This situation has created unrest among students and job seekers alike, who have also voiced concerns regarding irregularities in the Class 12 examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and issues pertaining to the Staff Selection Commission’s recruitment tests for government employment.

The controversy around Dalal escalated after a video surfaced online showing her passionately addressing fellow protesters. In the video, she referred to the demonstration as a “do or die” battle and highlighted her involvement as a mother standing up for children’s rights. This resonated with many individuals who viewed her participation as a bold stand for justice in an increasingly fraught educational landscape.

The Cockroach Janta Party, a relatively new political entity, has emerged as a voice for the youth and students in India, drawing attention to the systemic issues affecting education and employment. With mounting frustrations over examination processes and recruitment fairness, protests of this nature are likely to continue gaining traction as citizens demand accountability from authorities. The case of Sulekha Dalal serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggles within the education system and the potential repercussions faced by those who dare to speak out.
