IGP Kashmir Calls for Heightened Vigil Ahead of Key Events

Srinagar, Apr 17: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V. K. Birdi, chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Kashmir, directing officials to strengthen surveillance and security arrangements across the Valley in view of upcoming events.

According to Kashmir News Corner (KNC), the meeting was attended by senior officers from various security agencies, including CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, traffic police, and district police units. Discussions focused on reviewing preparedness and enhancing coordination among agencies.

During the meeting, the IGP emphasized the need to reinforce the existing security framework and ensure optimal deployment of personnel at sensitive and high-footfall locations, including tourist areas and key installations. He also directed officials to enhance vigilance across inter-district boundaries to monitor any suspicious movements.

Special emphasis was placed on traffic management in Srinagar city, with instructions to implement a comprehensive plan to reduce congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement for the public.

The IGP also reviewed arrangements related to the upcoming Hajj movement, stressing the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure safe and orderly travel for pilgrims.

Officials were further directed to monitor social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation that could affect public order. Security agencies were advised to maintain a high level of preparedness and continue necessary operations in sensitive areas and along national highways.

The meeting concluded with directions to maintain close coordination among all agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of upcoming events across the region.
