IGP Security Reviews Preparedness at Transit Camps Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Srinagar, June 11: Inspector General of Police (Security) Sujit Kumar on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements and overall preparedness at various transit camps established for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

During the visit, the IGP inspected the Walnut Factory Transit Camp at Qazigund and the Mirbazar Yatra Transit Camp to assess infrastructure, security deployment and logistical readiness. He also reviewed arrangements at the transit camps in Lambar and Chanderkot.

The inspection was conducted in the presence of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, the Commanding Officer of the CRPF and other senior officers.

Officials briefed the IGP on the existing security grid, deployment plans, logistical support systems and contingency measures put in place for the annual pilgrimage. The review focused on ensuring effective coordination among various agencies involved in managing the Yatra and facilitating the safe movement of pilgrims.

Sujit Kumar examined the availability of essential facilities, readiness of response teams and coordination mechanisms established at the transit camps. He directed officers to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure that all arrangements are completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Emphasising the importance of inter-agency coordination, the IGP said that robust security measures, efficient response capabilities and seamless cooperation among stakeholders are crucial for ensuring a safe, smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for devotees.

The inspection forms part of the ongoing efforts by the administration and security agencies to strengthen preparedness for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and ensure the smooth management of the annual pilgrimage.
