The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shifted the venue of the IPL 2026 final from Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
According to reports, the BCCI stated that the decision was taken due to “operational and logistical requirements.” Officials have not announced any controversy related to the venue change.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar also clarified publicly that there was no dispute between the Karnataka government and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) regarding hosting arrangements. He stated that local authorities were prepared to host the final in Bengaluru.
The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is currently the largest cricket stadium in the world in terms of seating capacity and has previously hosted several high-profile cricket matches and tournaments. The venue is equipped with large-scale spectator facilities, broadcasting infrastructure, and security arrangements required for major sporting events.
Cricket analysts noted that venue selection for major tournaments often depends on multiple operational factors, including infrastructure readiness, crowd management capacity, broadcasting logistics, and scheduling considerations.
The IPL final remains one of the most-watched cricket events globally, attracting large audiences both at the stadium and through television and digital broadcasts.
Further details regarding ticket sales, match schedules, and event management are expected to be announced officially by the IPL governing authorities and the BCCI in the coming days.
