13 APR 26 AT 0850 HRS (IST).U.S. Central Command said it would still allow ships travelling between non-Iranian ports to transit the Strait of Hormuz
The U.S. military said it will blockade all Iranian Gulf ports on Monday (April 13, 2026) at 2 p.m. GMT (7:30 p.m. IST), effectively seizing control of maritime traffic in the critical Strait of Hormuz, the strategic waterway responsible for distribution of a fifth of the global oil supply.
The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman,” U.S. Central Command said in a post on X, adding the U.S. would “not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports”.
Iran’s Parliament speaker, who led peace talks with the United States in Pakistan, said his country would not give in after Trump’s earlier threats to blockade the strait.

Oil prices jumped above $100 a barrel on Monday (April 13, 2026) as the U.S. Navy prepared a blockade Brent crude futures rose $7.60, or 7.98%, to $102.80 a barrel.
As the increase in crude oil price adversely effected growth and development around the world even it found too difficult to meet the requirements of daily needs.Hence most leaders across the world urge to open the Hormuz unconditionally.
