Chain Snatching Incident Raises Safety Concerns at Khatu Shyam Ji Temple

Khatu Shyam Ji, Rajasthan | April 19, 2026

A chain snatching incident reported near the premises of Khatu Shyam Ji Temple has raised concerns over public safety at one of Rajasthan’s prominent religious destinations.

According to information provided by a visitor, Neeraj Rohilla from Delhi, he had come to the temple along with his family for darshan. After completing their visit, the family was moving toward Shyam Kund when an unidentified group allegedly snatched a gold chain from his mother amid heavy crowd movement.

The incident reportedly took place within a short span of time in a crowded area, making it difficult to immediately identify the suspects. Rohilla later stated that CCTV footage from nearby shops was reviewed, which appeared to capture individuals suspected to be involved.

With the assistance of local personnel, a few women were detained and handed over to the police for further inquiry. Police officials have taken the matter into consideration and are examining the available evidence, including CCTV footage.

Meanwhile, another visitor at the police station reportedly raised a similar complaint of chain snatching around the same time. However, officials have not yet confirmed whether the incidents are connected.

Authorities have not released any official statement regarding the identity or background of the suspects. An investigation is currently underway.

The incident has drawn attention to the need for enhanced security measures at crowded pilgrimage sites, particularly during peak visiting hours. Visitors have also been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions while in congested areas.

Conclusion

The case highlights the importance of improved surveillance and crowd management at major religious destinations. Officials are expected to take appropriate action based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
