Young Man Stabbed to Death in Mumbai Local Train After Dispute Over Coach Door

A 21-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death inside a moving Mumbai local train on Tuesday night following a heated argument over closing the compartment door during heavy rainfall.
The victim, identified as Mayank Lohar, was travelling in the first-class compartment of a Churchgate–Nallasopara fast local train when he reportedly got into an altercation with another passenger between Goregaon and Kandivali stations. According to police, the argument escalated into violence, leading to the fatal attack.
The accused, identified as Roshan Suvarna, allegedly stabbed Lohar multiple times before attempting to flee. He was later arrested by police from the Kurla area of Mumbai.
A disturbing video recorded by a fellow passenger and circulated on social media shows the accused, dressed in black and holding a knife, walking through the compartment moments after the attack. Bloodstains are visible on the metal seats, while the victim lies motionless on the train floor in a pool of blood.
The footage also shows passengers moving away from the accused in fear. No one is seen confronting or attempting to restrain him as he looked back at the injured victim before leaving the scene.
The incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety on Mumbai’s suburban railway network. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and have registered a case of murder against the accused.
Authorities are also examining the viral video and recording statements from witnesses who were present in the coach at the time of the incident.
