Sharmistha Bhoumik Roy, daughter-in-law of former Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy, has remained missing in Nepal for eight days following the flash flood disaster in the region. Her family continues to await information about her whereabouts as search efforts remain underway.

According to her family, a DNA sample from a family member related to Sharmistha has been sent to Sagar Dutta Hospital as part of the ongoing efforts to assist in the identification process and establish her whereabouts.

Her disappearance has raised concern among her family members, who have also appealed through social media for information. On Wednesday night, Subhrangshu Roy shared a poster on Facebook carrying Sharmistha's photograph and details related to her Nepal trip, seeking information from anyone who may have knowledge of her whereabouts.

Details of the Nepal Trip

According to information shared by the family, Sharmistha had travelled to Nepal as part of a 32-member tourist group organised through a Kolkata-based travel agency, “Cholo Jai”. The group reportedly left Kolkata on August 21 and was travelling towards Mansarovar.

Before the flash flood disaster, Sharmistha was staying at Shubham Guest House. She was reportedly last known to be at Gyirong Port before communication with her was lost.

Government Search Efforts

The West Bengal government has published a list of people from the state reported missing in connection with the disaster in Nepal, and Sharmistha's name is included in the list.

The family has been assured that efforts are being made to trace the missing persons and gather information about their whereabouts.

For the family, the search for Sharmistha continues, with hopes of receiving further information from authorities and others involved in the ongoing efforts.
