Mason Dies After Being Struck by Tree Log in Natabari

A tragic accident occurred in the Nimai-er Choupathi area of Natabari in Tufanganj, where a 35-year-old mason, Rafiqul Mia, reportedly died after being struck by a tree log while travelling to work.

According to local sources, Rafiqul Mia was travelling on his motorcycle when logs were being loaded onto a locally used motorised vehicle, commonly known as a bhotbhoti, by the roadside. During the process, a log reportedly fell or moved onto the road and struck him.

Rafiqul sustained serious injuries, including a critical injury to his head. Local residents immediately took him to Natabari Hospital for treatment. However, the attending doctor reportedly declared him dead upon arrival.

The incident caused grief in the Natabari area, with the victim's family and local residents mourning the loss.

Local residents have raised concerns over safety measures during roadside loading and transportation of heavy logs. They said proper precautions and monitoring are important to prevent similar accidents, particularly in areas with regular movement of pedestrians and vehicles.

The exact circumstances of the accident and any further action by the authorities are expected to become clear following an official inquiry.
