Apollo Spectra Hospital, Alwarpet launches specialised diabetic foot care clinic

Apollo Spectra Hospital, Alwarpet has launched a specialised Diabetic Foot Care Clinic to strengthen its services for patients with diabetes-related foot complications. The clinic will provide screening, early risk identification, diagnosis, comprehensive treatment and limb-preservation interventions for diabetic foot conditions.

The clinic is designed to support early intervention and reduce the risk of diabetic foot ulcers, avoidable amputations and mobility-related complications among people living with diabetes.

Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing chronic diseases globally, with India accounting for one of the world's largest populations of people living with the condition. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 77 million adults in India are living with diabetes, while an estimated 25 million more have prediabetes.

Foot-related complications are among the health concerns associated with diabetes. Studies indicate that around 60–70% of people with diabetes may develop peripheral neuropathy, a condition that can reduce sensation in the feet and allow minor injuries to go unnoticed. Research has also indicated that a significant proportion of people with diabetes may develop diabetic foot ulcers during their lifetime, making regular screening and timely medical intervention important.

To mark the launch and raise awareness about diabetic foot health, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Alwarpet will conduct a Free Diabetic Foot Screening Camp on August 8 and 9, 2026.

The two-day camp will be aimed at people living with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. It will include expert consultations, foot examinations, blood-flow and sensation assessments, along with guidance on preventive foot care and appropriate footwear.

Through the new clinic, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Alwarpet will provide services focused on early diagnosis, treatment, limb-preservation measures and preventive diabetic foot care.
