In a major relief measure for students affected by the recent floods in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that fresh textbooks have been dispatched to flood-hit districts to ensure that children's education resumes without disruption. Schools in the affected areas are scheduled to reopen on August 10, subject to local conditions.

The state government has begun distributing replacement textbooks to students whose study materials were damaged or destroyed in the floods.

The initiative aims to help children return to classrooms with the necessary educational resources and minimise learning losses caused by the disaster.

Chief Minister Sarma said the Education Department and district administrations have been instructed to complete the distribution of textbooks before schools reopen.

The government has also announced financial assistance for flood-damaged educational institutions to clean campuses, remove debris, and restore normal operations.

Apart from providing textbooks, the Assam government has introduced several relief measures for flood-affected families, including financial aid and support for rebuilding damaged infrastructure.

Schools and colleges that suffered flood damage will receive assistance for repair and restoration so that academic activities can resume safely.

The recent floods severely impacted several districts of Upper Assam, disrupting education for thousands of students.

With schools expected to reopen on August 10, the government hopes the timely distribution of books and restoration of school infrastructure will help students return to normalcy and continue their academic year without further delays.
