The BJP has begun a new phase of its youth-wing organisation with Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi taking charge as national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), succeeding Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya.

Joshi formally assumed charge at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on August 31, in the presence of BJP national general secretary and BJYM in-charge Sunil Bansal, Surya and other national and state youth-wing leaders. The organisational flag was formally handed over from Surya to Joshi.

Joshi, 35, entered politics through student and organisational work and was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vadodara in 2024. He previously headed the Gujarat BJP Yuva Morcha. At the charge-taking ceremony, Joshi said BJYM would work to understand young people's aspirations and channel their energy towards nation-building. He also said the youth wing would respond to what he described as misinformation among young people.

The appointment comes after BJP president Nitin Nabin's wider organisational reshuffle, which brought new leadership to all seven party morchas.
The immediate test for Joshi will be whether a younger leadership face can translate the BJP's organisational reach into sustained engagement with India's increasingly diverse youth constituency.
