Flood Havoc Continues for Over 2 Months in Jajpur; Locals Seek Investigation Into Embankment Repair Work at Dovanbil Patna

Jajpur: The flood situation in Dasarathpur Block of Jajpur district has continued to affect local residents for over two months, while concerns have been raised over the condition of an embankment at Dovanbil Patna.

Even before people who had taken shelter on the river embankment could return to their homes, the recently repaired breach was reportedly washed away again this morning at Dovanbil Patna.

According to local residents, concerns have been raised over the quality of the repair work carried out at the site. Residents have sought an official assessment of the work and have urged the concerned authorities to examine whether the repair was carried out as per the required standards.

Following the reported reopening of the breach, people living in low-lying areas have expressed concern over possible fresh inundation. The situation has also raised concerns among villagers who have already been affected by the prolonged flood conditions.

Local residents have demanded immediate intervention by the District Collector and senior officials of the Water Resources Department to inspect the embankment repair work and determine the cause of the breach.

They have also sought permanent restoration and strengthening of the embankment to reduce the risk of further damage and flooding in the area.
