DC Poonch Urges Swift Action to Bridge Telecom Connectivity Gaps
POONCH, AUGUST 11 : Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired the meeting of the District Telecom Committee (DTC) in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, to review the status of telecommunication services and address issues related to connectivity and installation of mobile towers in the district.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Mohd Sayeed, Deputy Superintendent Police (HQ) Neeraj Sharma, District Informatics Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, representatives from BRO, PWD(R&B), PMGSY, JPDC, Forest Department, Municipal Council, Pollution Control Committee, BSNL, Airtel and Jio besides other concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner held detailed deliberations on the existing telecom infrastructure and availability of the mobile network services in different parts of the district. The committee discussed areas facing poor or inadequate connectivity, requirements for installation of new mobile towers and other issues affecting expansion and strengthening of telecom services.
The DC stressed the importance of filling the gaps in mobile and communication connectivity, particularly in remote, hilly and strategically important areas of the district. He directed the concerned departments and telecom service providers to coordinate closely and facilitate early resolution of bottlenecks related to land, permissions, infrastructure and other requirements for installation of telecom towers.
He further called for expeditious action on identified connectivity gaps and directed the concerned agencies to maintain close coordination so that telecom services are strengthened across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that better telecom connectivity is essential for public services, emergency response, disaster management, administration, healthcare, education and overall socio-economic development, particularly in remote areas.
The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned stakeholders to ensure timely follow-up on the issues discussed and work in a coordinated manner towards strengthening the telecom network infrastructure in district Poonch.
