⚠️ Extremely Severe Weather Alert Issued for Murshidabad

Murshidabad, West Bengal: An extremely severe weather alert has reportedly appeared on the mobile phones of several people across Murshidabad district, warning residents about the possibility of moderate to severe thunderstorms, lightning, intense rainfall and gusty winds.

According to the alert displayed on mobile devices, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rain are likely to affect some parts of Murshidabad district during the next 2–3 hours. The warning, issued at around 2:20 PM on September 7, 2026, also mentioned the possibility of gusty winds reaching speeds of approximately 40–50 kmph.

The sudden appearance of the emergency weather notification has created concern among local residents, particularly those who are currently outdoors or planning to travel during the afternoon. Strong winds combined with lightning and heavy rainfall can create hazardous conditions, including falling branches, waterlogging, reduced visibility and disruptions to normal travel.

Residents are advised to remain alert and closely monitor official weather updates. People should avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during thunderstorms and, whenever possible, stay inside a safe building. During lightning activity, it is advisable to stay away from open fields, isolated trees, electric poles, rooftops and other exposed locations.

Those travelling by two-wheelers should take extra precautions, as sudden heavy rain and strong winds can make roads dangerous.
