SpaceX Crew-13 Successfully Launches to the International Space Station

SpaceX Crew-13 successfully launched on October 1, 2026, marking the 13th crew rotation mission of SpaceX’s human spaceflight system to the International Space Station (ISS) under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. The crew lifted off at 11:10 a.m. EDT aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

The crew reached the station after an approximately 7-hour-and-50-minute journey aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft named Grace.

The Crew

The international four-person crew is serving as part of ISS Expedition 75:

  • Jessica Watkins (NASA) – Mission Commander
  • Luke Delaney (NASA) – Pilot
  • Joshua Kutryk (Canadian Space Agency) – Mission Specialist
  • Sergey Teteryatnikov (Roscosmos) – Mission Specialist

Mission Objectives

The crew is scheduled to spend approximately six months aboard the orbiting laboratory conducting scientific research. The mission includes studies aimed at advancing human health and supporting future space exploration. Key research areas include:

  • Medical Research: Investigating biological processes and potential treatments relevant to human health.
  • Astronaut Health: Studying the effects of microgravity on the human body, including changes in blood circulation and other health indicators.
  • Deep Space Preparation: Conducting research to support future long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars, including technologies for sustainable food production in space.

Launch Vehicle Details

  • Spacecraft: Crew Dragon Grace, which previously flew the Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4).
  • Rocket: SpaceX Falcon 9.
  • Booster Recovery: Following stage separation, the Falcon 9 first-stage booster returned to Earth and landed at Landing Zone 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The successful launch of Crew-13 marks another milestone in NASA and SpaceX’s partnership to transport astronauts to the International Space Station. The mission will contribute to ongoing scientific research while supporting preparations for future human exploration beyond low Earth orbit.
