CHENNAI, INDIA — In a major push toward early workforce readiness and digital capability, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), through its Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), has officially launched 17 certificate courses tailored for Class 9 to 12 students under its flagship School Connect Programme.

Designed to equip Generation Alpha with future-ready capabilities, the courses span high-demand technical and interdisciplinary domains, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, aerospace fundamentals, data science, product design, and law.

The deadline for schools to register their students is September 30, 2026, with classes set to commence on October 5, 2026. Students who successfully complete the coursework, assignments, and examinations will receive official e-certificates from IIT Madras.

As Generation Alpha transitions into higher education and the modern workforce, traditional school curricula often fall short of addressing rapid advancements in emerging technologies.


• Early Cyber Hygiene & Security: With cybersecurity becoming a national and global priority, exposing secondary school students to digital security concepts early builds a resilient foundation, transforming digital natives into cyber-aware leaders.

The IIT Madras School Connect initiative offers a scalable framework that state education boards across India can replicate to modernize public and private schooling.


• State School Board Integration: State governments can partner directly with technical universities to integrate modular, credit-aligned certificate tracks into state curriculum frameworks, ensuring equitable access for rural and Tier-2/Tier-3 students.

• Early Career Discovery: Introducing specialized fields before Class 12 reduces academic trial-and-error, helping students discover genuine interests in STEM, design, and governance before committing to university degree choices.

• Capacity Building for Educators: State adoption of similar outreach programs serves as an upskilling pipeline for school teachers, aligning local classroom pedagogy with global technological trends.
