Panic gripped Kalyan's Adharwadi area after a stray dog allegedly bit nearly 130 people within a span of seven hours on Sunday evening. The shocking incident left residents frightened and prompted an overnight search operation by civic authorities and police.

According to reports, the aggressive white stray dog attacked pedestrians near the Sandeep Hotel area, injuring dozens of people of different age groups.

Victims were immediately rushed to Rukmani Bai Hospital, where they received anti-rabies vaccinations and necessary medical treatment. Hospital officials said that almost all the injured identified the same white dog as the attacker.

Following the attacks, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), along with personnel from the Khadakpada and MHB police stations, launched an extensive search operation. Local representatives and volunteers also joined the effort.

After several hours of searching, the dog was finally captured at around 1:30 AM, bringing relief to residents.

The incident has sparked fresh concerns over the growing stray dog issue in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Residents have demanded stronger measures, including timely sterilisation, vaccination drives, and quicker response to complaints about aggressive stray animals.

Authorities have urged anyone bitten by a dog to seek immediate medical attention, thoroughly wash the wound with soap and water, and complete the recommended anti-rabies vaccination schedule to prevent infection.
