Pulses Highlighted on Second Day of Nutrition Week
Jintur (Correspondent), September 2: The second day of Nutrition Week was celebrated by highlighting the importance of pulses at Dr. Subhashchandra Rathi Balak Vidyamandir and Jijamata Vidyalaya in Jintur.
School Headmaster M. P. Kadam and Mr. Nalande, representing the Education Department, were present on the occasion.
Students brought various types of pulses and prepared informative charts explaining their nutritional importance. They presented information about the health benefits of sprouted green gram, cowpeas, kidney beans, chickpeas and moth beans. Shreya Suhas Wagh explained the benefits of sprouted cowpeas, while Yuvraj Pawar spoke about the importance of kidney beans.
Guiding the students, Mr. Nalande said that eating bread regularly for breakfast may not be as nutritious as including pulses in the diet. He encouraged students to consume more pulses and nutritious food for better health. He also advised students to drink milk regularly as an important part of a balanced diet.
Headmaster M. P. Kadam explained that pulses provide essential nutrients and can help improve digestion and overall health. He appealed to students to include pulses regularly in their daily meals.
During the programme, students of Class VII-B were honoured with coffee mugs for securing the first position in the evaluation of the previous month's school assembly presentations. The prizes were presented by the guests.
The programme was anchored by Mrs. Baswashree Swami, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Pratibha Sable. Teachers and non-teaching staff contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
