Sudhir Sharma Categorically Denies Baseless Allegations; Alleges Political Vendetta and Reposes Full Faith in the Rule of Law

Disproportionate Assets FIR: Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma Rejects Allegations, Calls Case Politically Motivated

Shimla: Dharamshala Assembly Constituency MLA Sudhir Sharma has categorically rejected the allegations contained in an FIR reportedly registered by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in connection with alleged disproportionate assets.

In a statement, Sharma termed the allegations false, baseless and politically motivated, and said they were devoid of factual and legal merit. He alleged that the FIR had been registered under political pressure and claimed that the Vigilance Bureau had acted at the behest of the present state government and under the influence of the Chief Minister to target him for political reasons.

Sharma described the case as an alleged instance of political vendetta and misuse of investigative machinery against a political opponent. He denied all the allegations contained in the FIR and alleged that the proceedings were initiated with an ulterior motive to tarnish his public image.

He said he has always conducted his public and personal affairs in a transparent manner and has duly disclosed his assets and income before competent statutory authorities, including the Election Commission of India and the Income Tax Department, as required under law.

Sharma further stated that registration of an FIR marks the commencement of an investigation and does not, by itself, establish wrongdoing. He maintained that he has neither acquired nor possessed any asset through illegal means and claimed that every property and financial transaction attributed to him has a lawful and verifiable source.

He expressed confidence that the facts, documents and records would establish his position during the course of the investigation.

Sharma also rejected the allegation that legitimate financial transactions had been portrayed as disproportionate assets. He claimed that the conclusions drawn in the FIR were based on assumptions, provisional calculations and an incomplete appreciation of the relevant material.

He said he reserves the right to challenge the legality, validity and correctness of the proceedings before the appropriate judicial forum.

Sharma also clarified that approaching a competent court to safeguard one's legal and constitutional rights cannot be construed as obstruction of an investigation, stating that every citizen is entitled to seek judicial remedies available under the law.

Sharma said he has full faith in the Constitution of India, the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law. While stating that he would extend full cooperation to any lawful investigation, he said he would pursue all legal remedies available to protect his rights, reputation and constitutional guarantees.

He expressed confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail and that he would be fully vindicated.

Note: The allegations mentioned above are the claims and statements made by Sudhir Sharma. The matter remains subject to investigation and any further legal proceedings.
