Family Alleges Wrong Injection Led to Death of Four-Year-Old Girl in Poonch

Poonch, September 8: A four-year-old girl has died after developing serious health complications following medical treatment at a private medical shop in the Mendhar area of Poonch district. The family has alleged that the child was administered a wrong injection and has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.

The deceased was identified as Aaira Kouser, daughter of Imtiaz Ahmed and Tahira Kouser, residents of Panchayat Upper Uchhad, Block Mankote, Tehsil Mankote in Mendhar.

According to the family, Aaira received glucose and an injection at Uzain Medical Hall in Uchhad. The family claimed that she subsequently developed severe swelling throughout her body and that her condition deteriorated.

She was initially taken to Sub District Hospital Mendhar. From there, she was referred to GMC Rajouri and subsequently to GMC Jammu for further treatment. The child later succumbed to her condition.

The bereaved family has alleged that Aaira's death may have been linked to medical negligence and the administration of an incorrect injection. They have called for an immediate medical investigation by competent authorities to establish the exact cause of her death.

Responding to the family's allegations, Chief Medical Officer Poonch, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Khan, said that medical shops come under the control of the Drug Authority. He added that the Drug Inspector had been asked to take necessary action.

The authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the child's treatment and determine whether any medical or regulatory violation took place. The exact cause of death and the allegations of medical negligence remain subject to investigation.

The incident has raised concerns among the family and local residents regarding medical treatment provided at private medical establishments and the need for appropriate regulatory oversight.
