Accused Prasanna Sahani Demanded Bribe for SC/ST Land Sale Permission; Simultaneous Raids on Multiple Properties Underway.

*Jajpur:* In a major crackdown on corruption, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Wednesday conducted a raid at the office of the Sub-Collector, Jajpur.

The accused has been identified as Prasanna Sahani, a clerk posted at the Sub-Collector's office.

According to official sources, Sahani had demanded a bribe to grant permission for the sale of land belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST). Complainant Bijay Kumar Naik was asked to pay money to get his file cleared.

Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Sahani red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from Bijay Kumar Naik.

Following his detention, the Vigilance Department has launched simultaneous raids on multiple locations linked to the accused, including his houses, to unearth disproportionate assets, if any. The searches are still underway.

Further investigation into the case is in progress. The Vigilance Department said that strict action will be taken as per law.
